Inside, outside where do we go from here? Inside, outside where do you disappear?
All of the things you told me They failed to come true Everyone tried to tell me That I couldn’t trust you Left me without a name And number to hang onto What’s a loving boy to do? Inside, outside where do we go from here? Inside, outside whisper it into my ear
All of the things you told me Came true and then some Emeralds and rubies and diamonds That shined like the sun Emeralds and rubies and diamonds That shined like the sun You are the wise magician Who makes the miracles you think they can’t come true, but then you know they do Inside, outside where do we go from here? Inside, outside where do we disappear Inside, outside where do we go from here Inside, outside whisper it into my ear Ahh… Ahh… Ahh…

Long Time 03:44
Long time feeling jealous of you Long time, long time feeling jealous and I don't know what to do Don't know which way the wind will blow, can't find a love that's true Long time, Long time feeling jealous gonna send it back to you Red Wine from the glass rushing to my brain Red Wine, Red Wine from the glass gonna take away my pain Gonna take myself away from here, gonna wash away the stain Red Wine, Red Wine from the glass gonna take away my pain Ooh- Cold world have I known these many years Cold world, Cold world have I known and I'm holding back the tears Hold back the pain and the bitter taste from a love so insincere Cold world, Cold world have I known gonna make it disappear gonna make it disappear gonna make it disappear

I called you on a Monday afternoon I watched you fly away in a big balloon Maybe you could call me someday soon I watched your little brother yesterday You went somewhere else to make a play I'm so fed up I don’t know what to say So fed up it’s best you stay away Maybe on Friday We can walk to the liquor store We can get high babe We won’t need to ask for need to ask for more Interlude I called you on a Monday afternoon I didn’t think you’d call me back so soon Let’s go for a ride in your big balloon Or just stay inside and watch cartoons Maybe on Friday We can walk to the liquor store We can get high babe We won’t need to ask for need to ask for more Maybe on Sunday We can sail across the sea Lie in the sun babe Life was meant to be this meant to be this meant to be this free

Getting on the highway makes me happy I will take the wheel if you’ll let me How was I to know you would upset me? Sunshine on your face tells me the story of lovers you erased and came before me That’s the kind of man I am, I’m sorry What’s it like being you? Can you see what I’ve been through? Does it seem like the past is now slipping through your grasp? On the way to the dump down the street in the old hard story Caught between the lines on the freeway You can’t ever see me on a weekday Tell me that sounds just like something he’d say Jingle jangle mornings back in Frisco All your favorite songs are rap and disco You go north and I’ll go back to Reno What’s it like being you? Can you see what I’ve been through? Does it seem like the past is now slipping through your grasp? On the way to the dump down the street past the old hard story Interlude What’s it like being you? Can you see what I’ve been through? Does it seem like the past is now slipping through your grasp? On the way to the dump down the street in the old hard story On the way to the dump down the street in the old hard story On the way to the dump down the street in the old hard story

In Olden days when time stood still you took a while and you took your fill And after all I gave your will to someone else instead When time alone was holding you you looked at the skies for something new But everyone said why don’t you rest your weary head? And I was there in '63 and I was there when you turned the key And in the old reformatory you gave your life for me Something saw you Something moved you inside I don’t want you to hide interlude I recognize your mamas face I recognize the human race I recognize this other place where we used to go You shot the bird, you shot the grouse We laughed out loud at Mickey Mouse And in the old abandoned house, you gave your life for me Something that I contemplate comes to me at half past eight What you saw and how we relate still won’t leave with me Something saw you Something moved you inside I don’t want to deny Something saw you Something moved you inside I don’t want you to hide (You To hide)

about

Tragic Songs EP is a collection of five new original songs from John Holk & the Sequins. It is their first release since 2016, their first EP, and it is the first Sequins record to be co-produced by John and longtime core group members Alex Trajano and Todd Glass.

The music is stylistically and sonically lush alt-country/americana infused with equal parts power-pop, and shoegaze. The idea for the name Tragic Songs EP comes from the seminal Louvin Brothers’ debut album, Tragic Songs of Life. Tragic Songs EP is inspired by the same themes of broken hearts, hard luck, and murder as the Louvins sang about in 1956 .
